This group supports the Sarasota ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Service).

ARES consists of licensed amateurs who have voluntarily registered their qualifications and equipment, with their local ARES leadership, for communications duty in the public service when disaster strikes.
Requesting access to this group indicates your willingness to join and participate the Sarasota ARES. You should be a resident of Sarasota or the surrounding communities, have an interest in emergency communications and be willing to participate.

SrqAres Mission Statement

Sarasota County ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Service) is a volunteer organization of skilled Amateur Radio operators, licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and sponsored by the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), who provide non-commercial emergency communication services during emergencies and disasters as a public service to the American Red Cross and the Sarasota County Emergency Operations Center and other public and private service agencies in Sarasota County Florida.
